The Difficult Words of Jesus, a study of Amy Jill Levine’s look at some troubling New Testament passages. Levine, a Vanderbilt University professor of Jewish Studies, tells us how these words would have sounded to the people hearing them at the time, and suggests how we may interpret them in context of a gospel of love and reconciliation.
